Maureen of Gweek
This boat of mine is a ‘Nic 32’ designed by C.E.Nicholson, but moulded by Halmatic then fitted out in 1973 back in Camper and Nicholson’s boatyard. This sailing yacht, hull moulding number 232 was on the hard in Gweek Classic Boatyard. Since buying it I’ve refitted it with a Chinese diesel heater, a fridge, a DSC VHS and splitter with an AIS receiver and more solar panels and Lithium Phosphate batteries to keep them working. When upgraded to accommodate my particular needs, as I’m a somewhat disabled network engineer/biologist who originally did sports, when it’s launched it will be sailed in the Irish sea although the Azores and the West Indies are not out of the question. It was named ‘Loulua’ when I bought it and although that name was probably meaningful to some previous owner it it wasn’t meaningful to me and as I don’t believe that renaming a boat will make unlucky I think that is ignorant superstition, I’m renaming it. A Nic 32 is known as a very seaworthy design very sea-kindly with a very restful motion although it was only built in the UK examples are found all over the world.
